Five Barca Players That Never Quite Got Any Credit

Barcelona have had some fantastic players through the years, but some just don’t get the same amount of credit as others. The Fan Park Crew selects five players that never quite got any credit at the club or from its supporters.

Seydou Keita

Keita was signed by Barcelona back in 2008 from Sevilla and while being a stalwart for them, not many expected him to succeed once he moved to the Catalans. He managed to prove many onlookers wrong and was a frequent player under Pep Guardiola, making a totally of 188 appearances for the club.

Life at the Catalan club has been a frustrating one for Pedro, as he has always ended up playing second fiddle to whoever they had playing up front. A few seasons back, the Spaniard was behind Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez and Andres Iniesta in the pecking order, now he has been pushed behind Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.  Pedro’s goal in the 2011 Champions League final has arguably been his finest moment at the club.

Javier Saviola

The Argentine was an absolute talent and arrived at the Camp Nou in 2001 from River Plate. The talented striker found himself in and out of the side on a regular basis throughout his career, but always seemed to do his job - which was score goals. He made 158 appearances for Barcelona and scored 65 goals along the way. In 2007, he was deemed surplus to requirement and left to rivals Real Madrid on a free.

Rafael Marquez

The former Mexican captain was a real stalwart in defence at the club and joined them in 2003. He played predominantly at centre-back, but did have spells in the midfield when Barcelona were struggling with injuries. With the side being full of stars, Marquez didn’t always get the recognition he deserved - and playing alongside Puyol didn’t help him either.

Alexis Sanchez

Now playing for Arsenal in England, Sanchez didn’t quite get the praise he deserved at Barcelona before his move. The Chilean had a fantastic partnership with Lionel Messi, but it is hard to take the spotlight off the little maestro. Sanchez made 141 appearances for the club and scored 47 goals, while assisting in 36 more.

Who do you think didn’t get the right amount of credit at the club?
