Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United will meet in the Nedbank Cup Final next month, but will Buccaneers have an advantage over Matsatsantsa for the following reason?
Pirates defeated Golden Arrows to qualify for the final on 24 June, while SuperSport beat Chippa United in a penalty shootout after their semi-final ended 0-0 after 120 minutes.
With the PSL season having ended this past weekend, fans will have to wait longer than three weeks until the final of the Nedbank Cup – a break that could benefit the Buccaneers.
Pirates will have no competitive matches to play during the three-week wait for the final, while Stuart Baxter's men will have two 2017 CAF Confederation Cup fixtures to play in that time.
There is also perhaps another slight disruption in the fact that Baxter will be with Bafana Bafana for their Africa Cup of Nations match against Nigeria on 10 June.
Therefore, Baxter might be preoccupied with his new job with the South African national team, but SuperSport do have an organised technical team, who will be keen to cut out any complacency ahead of their Confederation Cup matches.
Pirates, on the other hand, will just have one important fixture to prepare for over the next three weeks, and it is a match that could decide Kjell Jonevret's future!
