Much has been made about how the ‘Twin Towers’, in Eric Mathoho and Tefu Mashamaite, have held strong this season for Kaizer Chiefs - but could they collapse come the end of the campaign?
As it stands, both players’ futures are well and truly undecided… Mathoho’s impressive form has seen him linked with a move to Europe, while Masha is yet to tie his future down at Naturena.
Bobby Motaung confessed earlier this month that the club would not place a tight grip on Mathoho’s services, should a good offer from an overseas club present itself.
The 24-year-old was recently linked with a move to Oostende, but as it stands, the Belgium club will make no offer for the central defender. But that doesn’t rule out the possibility of other European outfits showing interesting in him.
According to the Siya Crew’s sources, an offer may be handed to Bobby Motaung and company, and Mathoho could well be boarding a flight to the Northern Hemisphere by the time next season arrives.
On top of that, Tower’s partner in crime, Mashamaite, is currently in his final six months of his contract with the Amakhosi and is yet to agree terms over a new deal.
If no deal is struck, Masha will be able to leave as a free agent, despite having spent the majority of his career in Soweto.
This would be an awful blow to the club if they were to somehow lose both players, who have formed a near unbreakable ‘Twin Tower’ partnership.
