Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, failed in a bid to buy Arsenal in 2010, but the businessman hasn’t given up hope.
Dangote, a Nigerian billionaire worth over US$15 Billion, is valued at more than eight times than he was when he previously put a bid in for the Gunners, and still has hopes of owning the club in the future.
“I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team,” reported the Mirror.
“I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy.”
Dangote has also come out and said that Arsene Wenger and the team need new direction, suggesting that the manager might need to change his style in order to compete with some of Europe’s elite clubs.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if Dangote does buy Arsenal in the future, as we know the Gunners already have a large African following.
