The 39-year-old has been prolific ever since signing for Al Nassr in 2023. In the 65 appearances he has made for the Knights of Najd to date, he has scored 59 goals, and at the beginning of this 2024/25 season, he has already helped them reach the Saudi Super Cup final.

While he had a record-breaking season last campaign with Al Nassr, his 2024 UEFA European Championship tournament did not go according to plan as he failed to find the back of the net for the first time at a major international tournament.

Rumours have been floating that he plans on continuing with his national team, with the hopes of possibly playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and this could be a reality given his former colleague's recent comments.

Rio Ferdinand and Ronaldo played 221 games together, as per Transfermarkt, and when the former England central defender was asked when he thinks his ex-teammate will retire, he stated that it is unlikely to be any time soon.

"I can't give too much away but I've been doing a few bits with Cristiano behind the scenes, and he's playing as long as he wants. He ain't going nowhere. And I was gobsmacked. And listen, you'll see it in time, but minimum three years I think he plays for again," the London native said on Rio Reacts.
