The Africa Cup of Nations has come to an end, but the Fan Park Crew has decided to pick their top performers in this year’s tournament.
Andre Ayew (Ghana)
The younger son of Abedi Pele was in phenomenal form for his country during the tournament. The Black Stars had a slow start to their campaign but managed to improve thanks to Ayew producing a few blinding performances. He scored three goals in the tournaments and assisted in one more.
Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire)
Hands down, Ivory Coast’s most consistent performer of the tournament. The powerful right-back caused the opposition problems throughout and managed to produce a few assists. His contribution to the Elephants was absolutely brilliant and we may see a few big European sides after him in the future.
Javier Balboa (Equatorial Guinea)
Equatorial Guinea were possibly the 'bad boys' of this year’s tournament, but that isn’t one of the reasons why Balboa made this list. The striker was Equatorial Guinea’s go to man when they needed goals and he didn’t disappoint. He scored most of his goals from the penalty spot, but also scored a stunning free kick to lead his side to the semi-finals.
Yannick Bolasie (DR Congo)
The Crystal Palace midfielder was one of the stars of this year’s tournament, even though his side never won it. DRC Congo finished third this year, but Bolasie tore the field up every time he played. His speed, power and dribbling skills were just magnificent to watch, and he contributed with two assists and a goal.
Christian Atsu (Ghana)
The Everton winger has had a marvelous tournament for his country. His pace and dribbling abilities were a real assett to the Black Stars, and he contributed with some quality goals, including the Goal of the Tournament in a 3-0 rout of Guinea. Atsu sadly didnt win the trophy, but did strike the post in the final with a thunderous shot.
