With the new Premier League season set to start this weekend, we highlight five African newcomers who might just light up England's top league this season.
Tokelo Rantie – Bournemouth
The South African striker may have failed to secure a starting place at Bournemouth in the past campaign, but he has been on fire during pre-season for the Cherries, and will be hoping to be among the goals.
Andre Ayew – Swansea
Now a veteran for his national side, Ayew decided to step out of his comfort zone to test his skill in the Premier League. The Ghanaian should be an exciting addition to an already-impressive Swansea outfit.
Jordan Ayew – Aston Villa
The younger Ayew brother's signing for Aston Villa was a bit of a surprise, but he is nevertheless a quality buy, especially in terms of his price tag. He has the ability to score goals, managing 12 in Ligue 1 last season.
Max Gradel – Bournemouth
Gradel ended up as one of Africa's highest goalscorers in Europe last season and it will be interesting to see how he does in the Premier League. He has deadly pace and will cause a few sleepless nights for some defenders.
Allan Nyom – Watford
The Cameroon international was his country's first-choice right back during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but has seemingly disappeared from the radar since. The 27-year-old Watford signing should make a fair few appearances this season, though.
