England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is an owner of a brand new BMW i8 hybrid sports car.
Manchester United captain saw his side in top gear this weekend as they brushed aside arch rivals Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield
The 29-year-old showed off his new wheels at Man United's training ground, Carrington, a few days before the Liverpool clash.
Rooney splashed out R1.87 million on his new BMW i8, after having scored five goals in his last six Manchester United appearances.
The new hybrid from BMW uses the combination of an electric motor and a powerful petrol engine which provide low emissions into the environment.
Rooney will certainly be quick into training as the sports car can accelerate from 0-100kmh in just 4.4 seconds, and has a top speed limited to 250kmh.
Hopefully Rooney's new wheels inspire him to drive Manchester United back into Europe next season, and with the five point advantage over fifth placed Liverpool, it certainly seems possible.
