Sports giants PUMA today launched Mamelodi Sundowns' new 2019/20 kit, inspired by the African Sun. How does it compare to the kits of years gone by? We look at Masandwana's kit evolution over the last couple of seasons. Check it out.
They are nicknamed 'The Brazilians' for their rich history of playing shoeshine and piano style. As a result, they have adopted the famous Brazilian Samba colours. We take a look at Mamelodi Sundowns' last five kits.
2015/16
A yellow home jersey featured a stylish two-button chest connected to a classic ribbed collar in green. Green piping finished off the cuff of the sleeves, while a thin green stripe ran down either side of the jersey. Emblazoned across the left of the chest was the club crest with the Mamelodi Sundowns' motto, 'The Sky is the Limit'. The kit was complete with blue shorts with a single white stripe down the side, and the option of blue socks or white socks with a yellow trim.
2016/17
Nike ended their relationship with the Chloorkop-based club, and subsequently the Brazilians revealed that they acquired a long-term partnership with Puma, who offered their first rendition of the yellow and green jersey, which garnered great success.
2017/18
The Brazilians went on to lift the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup trophy while donning Puma's design in the 'Ka Bo Yellow' colours. The kit was released in honour of the Masandawana faithful supporters.
2018/19
The campaign that Puma created for the Mamelodi Sundowns 2018/19 jerseys leverages the personality of the team and their roots in Mamelodi, expressing how the 'Beat of Mamelodi' brings to life and celebrates the PSL champions and their fans across the country. Rugby side, The Bulls paid homage to Masandawana with a yellow strip the season before and Pitso Mosimane's team repaid the favour by donning blue as their alternate jersey.
2019/20
Sports company PUMA launched Mamelodi Sundowns' new 2019/20 kit and according to the sports brand, "The Under African Sun Home and Away kit, with radiant and elegant designs, takes inspiration from the blazing African Sun, which beats down on the stadiums where these stars rock our world,"
