Wearing the jersey number 10 is no child's play. No one epitomizes this more than talismanic figure Lionel Messi, who dons the famous number for both club and country.
Gaston Sirino - Mamelodi Sundowns
The Uruguayan has taken over this number permanently this season after donning it with much aplomb during Downs' CAF Champions League campaign last season. The 28-year-old has the natural swag and skill that comes with being a number 10.
Siphelele Ntshangase - Kaizer Chiefs
Mr 'Champagne Passes' took over the jersey from departed Keagan Buchanan when he joined Amakhosi two seasons ago, he is yet to live up to the bill of wearing this jersey for such a big team.
Hashim Domingo - Bidvest Wits
With Gabadinho Mhango having left for Orlando Pirates, Domingo wasted no time in taking up the Wits' jersey number 10. The former Vitoria Guimaeres midfielder is in his second season with Gavin Hunt's side.
Thabo Mnyamane - SuperSport United
Mnyamane donned the number during his time at Tuks and when Kingston Nkatha vacated the number, he wasted no time in snapping up his favourite number. Mnyamane's promise as Matsatsantsa has been hampered by constant, niggling injuries.
Orlando Pirates - Retired
Not since Jomo Sono retired, has anyone been deemed worthy of donning the Orlando Pirates' number 10. Teko Modise was rumoured to be next in line, but that all died when he left the club. Oupa Manyisa and Vincent Pule donned it during Bucs' CAF campaigns.
Luckyboy Mokoena - Highlands Park
Former Santos striker Suhayl Allie donned the jersey last season, however Luckyboy Mokoena has since taken over the reins.
Ndumiso Mabena - Bloemfontein Celtic
Siwelele's new club captain has been occupying the number for the past three seasons. The Free State-based club will be looking to the 32-year-old to lead from the front this season.
Iqraam Rayners - Stellenbosch
Last season's NFD top goalscorer will look to replicate that form for the newly promoted club. Rayners found the back of the net on 19 occasions for Stellies last season.
Christopher David - Cape Town City
The Dutch set-piece specialist has taken over the jersey from departed Ayanda Patosi. The former Fulham player will be hoping to stamp his authority on the league this season after a full pre-season with the Citizens.
Maritzburg United - Vacant
No player has taken up the jersey since the departure of Ivorian striker Yazid Atouba.
Golden Arrows - Vacant
The last player to don the famous jersey for Abafana Besthende was legendary Papi Zothwane
Siyethemba Sithebe - AmaZulu
The enterprising dreadlocked midfielder inherited the jersey from recently retired Siyabonga Nomvethe. The 41-year-old had an official handover of the jersey at the start of the season.
Puleng Tlolane - Polokwane City
Veteran attacker Tlolane has been wearing the jersey for the past four seasons and pops up with the occasional moment of brilliance.
Chippa United - Vacant
Jabulani Shongwe left the club to join Highlands Park last season and since then the jersey number has been left vacant.
Gerald Phiri Junior - Baroka
The Malawian international joined Bakgaga this season following a stint at Ajax Cape Town last season. Phiri has a sweet left foot and was recently voted the COSAFA player of the tournament.
Karabo Tshepe - Black Leopards
The skillful midfielder is known for his flair that keeps the Limpopo faithful entertained. Tshepe famously found himself in trouble after executing a piece of skill that was seen as 'showboating'
