Farouk Khan has been a pioneer in South African football when it comes to unearthing hidden talent across Mzansi, and he has helped launch many careers in the PSL. Can you name any of them?
The Stars of Africa founder and coach, who, in the past, was also an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs as well as the head tactician at Santos, has an eye for spotting talent before it is fully developed and has a resume he can be proud of.
The mentor was the coach who developed Jabu "Pule" Mahlangu as well as Kaizer Motaung Junior, while Tefu Mashamaite and Tokelo Rantie also graduated from his Stars of Africa academy.
In addition to that, the teams he has personally overseen as coach have, unsurprisingly, done well. He won the Engen U17 tournament with Stars of Africa Football Academy in 2005, qualified for the ABSA Cup Last 32 with Alexandra United (Stars of Africa Football Academy) in 2006, and won the Umbro Western Cape U17 tournament with the Stars of Africa Football Academy in 2009.
Khan's visionary work has received much praise over the years, and there are reminders of his products across most of the PSL.
