What's the story?
Tebogo Mokgophe of 3qs Canvas Art has a solid clientele list of South African footballers, wanting to commission similar paintings that celebrate their careers.
From Orlando Pirates' Siphelo Baloni, Monnapule Saleng, Melusi Buthelezi and Lesedi Kapinga to veteran ballers like Thabo Rakhale, Mokgophe's art manages to capture the imagination of some of Mzansi's finest ballers.

3qs Canvas Art for PSL stars
The number of South African footballers supporting local art is growing and Tebogo Mokgophe's work is grabbing the attention of many.
In a similar style to Brino Flavour (artclub_brino), Mokgophe's work sees him paint portraits on canvas of his footballer clients in different stages of their careers.
Players such as Pirates' Phillip Ndlondo, Mamelodi Sundowns' Bathusi Aubaas, Sipho Mbule and Thapelo Morena as well as other Bafana Bafana internationals; Nyiko Mobbie and Mlungisi Mbunjana, have commissioned work from 3qs Canvas Art.
Even Kaizer Chiefs stars Pule Mmodi and Dillon Solomons have their own paintings done by the talented Mokgophe.

For his paintings, Mokgophe uses a similar layout that sees him paint a dominating portrait that serves as a background to other, smaller illustrations of his subject.
For Monnapule Saleng, the main illustration of his piece sees him in the colours of Bafana Bafana, with the smaller ones being of him playing for the Buccaneers.
Mokgophe's portraiture not only evokes emotion from his footballer clients, but also serves as a nice reminder of how far they've all come in their careers.
Art magazine widewalls.com, mentions that portraiture is one of the most important genres in the history of art.
"Together with landscapes, portraiture is probably the most used artistic genre," writes Lorenzo Pereira back in 2015.
Despite it being an old article, the words ring true today as Mokgophe's simple, but commemorative art still manages to draw in a host of high-profile clients for him.
Portrait artworks are more than just close-up depictions of a person, they just need to specifically contain a face and Mokgophe's paintings of existing images of these players, makes them look more alive than what they were on the pitch.
The painter's ability to make the player's faces look more glossy by using later shades of paint adds plenty of vibrancy to his artworks, which may come across as cartoonish for some.
As written by the eden-gallery.com, portraits can include an individual, group, or a singular being, mainly depicting the head and shoulder, half or full body. Mokgophe covers all bases with his work.
