Brazil captain Neymar found himself stuck in the middle of a smoking controversy, but he has come out to defend himself.
The Barcelona star took to social media this weekend to address the public after an image of him appeared on the Internet smoking a cigarette on a balcony while wearing a dressing gown.
The 23-year-old told supporters on his Facebook page that the photo is from 2013, and its his body double that was seen smoking.
Neymar has urged people not to believe everything they see on the internet.
His post read (translated), "I cannot believe there are people believing that I am in this photo smoking, right?
"I do not smoke, do not even like the smell of a cigarette, but I have nothing against those who smoke. And Nico, my double, who was photographed smoking, is a very nice person!
"To worsen the picture is from 2013!
"Guys! Let's face it ... Do not believe everything you see on the internet, okay?"
