What's the story?
When it comes to prestige, Pirates are one of the biggest clubs in the country in terms of richness in history and tradition. With many Bucs fans holding the club's history dear to their hearts, adidas have now gone back in time in launching a retro-inspired off-field jersey.
For The Happy People
The shirt features the adidas originals logo, which was last seen on-field in 1997. According to adidas, the jersey collection is a tribute to the 'unwavering' support of the Bucs fans, praising their spirit, charisma, and resilience.
"adidas x the Orlando Pirates celebrate their shared history and the strong bond that has spanned many years. Because it wouldn't be a celebration without the fans, this collection is for you, Happy People," as quoted on the adidas website.
Zodwa Khoza Foundation
"A reflection on the community and their mission of youth empowerment and development, this jersey is made in partnership with the Zodwa Khoza Foundation, whose founder was a lifelong Pirates fan. It's a remake of the '97 version, complete with an allover Trefoil print, vintage Pirates crest and the foundation's logo."
As seen on the adidas website, the jersey is priced at R1499, while fans can get a cheaper alternative in the form of a 'Happy People' Graphic tee for R699.
Along with the shirts, fans can also get their hands on a retro tracksuit, with the top going for R1899 and the track pants priced at R1699.
