Millions For A Post: Louis Vuitton Pay Hefty Sums For CR7 x Messi

The greatest sports pic of all time? Could be. Here's a look at how two of the greatest players in the modern era shook the football world with a campaign for Louis Vuitton and how much they charged LV for a social media post.

Check it out!

What's the story?

A picture of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi shared by Louis Vuitton over the weekend was a major talking point on social media before the start of the FIFA World Cup.

Both stars shared an image from the LV campaign as a branded post on Instagram, which costs millions for a brand to get the two GOATS to do such.

The pricey campaign for LV is focused on the French luxury giants' reputation for producing well-crafted travel trunks, which are also used to carry the World Cup trophy.

As mentioned by Hypebeast, Louis V has had football-inspired campaigns with greats and World Cup winners such as Pelé, Maradona and Zidane.

This time, the French luxury giants enlisted the services of the modern GOATs, Ronaldo and Messi for their "Victory is a State of Mind" campaign.

Both stars took to Instagram to post the image for French luxury fashion house and this could be one of LV's priciest campaigns to date.

According to Cash N Sports, Ronaldo reportedly charges $2 million (R34.8 million) per brand post as the most followed person on Instagram with 500 million followers.

Messi on the other hand, with 376 million followers, reportedly charges $1.7 million (R29.5 million) for a branded post.

The trending image portrays the two sporting greats facing off in a game of chess, using the Louis Vuitton Damier attaché case as a makeshift board.

The campaign is focused on LV's reputation for its quality travel trunk craftsmanship. It was shot by legendary fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Unfortunately for football fans, behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot reveals that the iconic ballers weren't in the same venue for the portrait, and were photoshopped together to complete the image.
