Kaka/Messi What Really Happened

Kaka/Messi What Really Happened

Recently, my two colleagues, Forrest Turner and Blaugrana, have taken turns to shoot comments at one another with regards to Lionel Messi's 'incident' with Kaka at the recent Superclasico in China.

So, as a neutral fan, I just wanted to clear the air and give the fans an objective outlook on what happened between the two stars.

In case you haven't seen the video, you can find the YouTube link here. What you see in the video is simply Kaka approaching Messi, ruffling his hair and asking him something. Messi points over his shoulder, saying something and Kaka walks away from him. That's pretty much all there is to it…

I'm going to have to agree with Blaugrana here and say that Forrest Turner overreacted to the incident and he was mistaken.

From what I understand, Kaka was asking Messi if he could have his shirt, while Messi, who never removes his shirt on pitch, explained that he had already promised his shirt to another player. Kaka accepted this and walked away, with no harsh words or any kind of conflict happening.

So, on this point, I disagree with Forrest Turner on the way he saw it. One thing that I do agree with Forrest on, however, is that Messi is not the 'angel' that he's portrayed to be in the media and also that Cristiano Ronaldo is ostracized to a large extent. Blaugrana's statement that he prefers Messi is nothing but a veiled explanation of his own bias, and, stating that Forrest is a biased fan, was simply hypocritical.

However, I am happy to see some of the Barca-Madrid fan rivalry getting renewed for next weekend's Clasico. I'm just happy that I get to experience, what will undoubtedly be a cracker of a game, as a neutral and just enjoy the football for what it is… the beautiful game.

Are you excited for next weekend's El Clasico? Who do you think will win?
