Remember last year when the Argentine visited Gabon? He came under heavy criticism by a political party in the African country for what he was wearing.
Union du Peuple Gabonais (UPG) were quoted at the time, saying: "The Messiah of football arrived in Gabon like he were going to a zoo: dirty, unshaven and his hands in his pockets, looking for peanuts to throw to them!"
Apart from that, Messi has also been mocked on the internet for the way he shows up to awards evenings, most notably for his polka-dot suit he rocked at the 2012 FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony.
