This weekend we saw Liverpool's Steven Gerrard enter the field of play at half-time, and just 38 seconds later, he was sent off for a stamp on Manchester United's Ander Herrera – quite embarrassing really!
So because of Stevie G's moment of madness, the Fan Park crew has decided to take a look at five of the fastest red cards in history, where Liverpool's captain doesn't even make the list. Note: all of these reds were given in less than 15 seconds!
1) Lee Todd – 2 Seconds
In 2002, the English player was unbelievably sent off within two seconds after swearing about how loud the referee's whistle was.
2) David Pratt – 3 Seconds
After a two-footed challenge after three seconds on the field, there was no hesitance from the official to show Pratt his marching orders.
3) Giuseppe Lorenzo – 10 Seconds
In 1990, the Italian playing for Bologna punched an opposition player in the face after just 10 seconds of play.
4) Keith Gillespie – 12 Seconds
The Northern-Irishman was sent off for Sheffield United after elbowing a player while waiting to receive the ball from a throw!
5) Kevin Pressman – 13 Seconds
The goalkeeper was dismissed after 13 seconds when he was sighted for handling the ball out of his area just 13 seconds in.
What did you make of Steven Gerrard's shocking challenge?
