The 31-year-old sadly passed away in his sleep on Saturday evening, ahead of Fiorentina's clash against Udinese on Sunday afternoon, with initial reports suggesting a suspected heart attack to be the cause of death.
Astori, who came through AC Milan's youth academy before going on to enjoy spells at Cagliari, Roma and Fiorentina, was known as an utmost professional, and his death has left everyone involved in Italian football shaken.
Tributes for the late Azzurri defender have poured in from all over the football fraternity, but a more recent one that stood out is from his teammate, Riccardo Saponara. Oh, and it's a tear-jerker; get your tissues ready.

Reports have suggested that Fiorentina are likely to retire the No. 13 jersey in honour of Astori, and renew his contract – which he was reportedly set to do on Monday – with his wages going to his family. The club is yet to confirm this, though.
