The story

Cape Town City's veteran midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo chatted about his time at Brentford in the English Championship.

The vastly experienced Mokotjo, 33, recently joined City as a free agent after leaving Sekhukhune United at the end of the last campaign, where he made exactly 50 appearances in 18 months at the club.

In joining Eric Tinkler's outfit, Mokotjo brings with him the knowledge from spells in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente, and in England with Brentford.

Mokotjo spent three seasons with the Bees and left a year before they achieved promotion to the English Premier League, having made 102 appearances for the club.

"When it comes to Brentford, that's home for me. You know, I have no regrets and like I said, everything happens for a reason," says Mokotjo, who went on to explain how he parted ways with the club:

"We managed to reach a play-off final, I think it was against Fulham and we lost that game. My contract was coming to an end, so the club decided that they won't be renewing. Coach [Thomas Frank] wanted me to stay, but you know, it's an organisation and yeah, I left, not with a heavy heart, I learnt so much there and I obviously took and whatever I've learnt there, I will carry it throughout my career," he tells Goal South Africa
