The story

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies shot-stopper, Andile Dlamini is known for immense musical talent off the pitch, regularly leading the way in the pre-match Gwijo for both club and country.

Dlamini's incredible singing voice was put on the spotlight during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup as she led out Banyana in song for every match at the tournament, despite being dropped by Kaylin Swart in goal.

She's expanded on her World Cup moment by appearing on the Masked Singer South Africa and teasing a new song on her Instagram page last month.

Speaking on the Football Faras podcast with Morena Mothupi, Dlamini explained that football gave her the confidence to sing and how she comes from a long line of singers in her family.

"I don't remember quite well, it's when I started playing football," answers Dlamini on when she discovered that she could sing well, showing that football gave her the license to croon her heart out:

"At church, I was too scared to sing because my family, like my uncles, they used to sing. But I was scared to join the choir, I don't know why. When I moved into football, I played with Amanda [Dlamini] and that's when we started having competitions and we would call ourselves 'The Oil' because the popular group was The Soil."
