Nabi On Chiefs Striker Coach & Responsibility

Nabi On Chiefs Striker Coach & Responsibility

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi had his say on a striker coach after Amakhosi missed opportunities to get three points against Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership.

The Soweto giants were left frustrated as they dropped two points in a goalless draw at FNB Stadium. They missed out on an opportunity to move up the Premiership standings, but they have no one to blame but themselves with the chances they missed throughout the encounter.

Amakhosi had 17 shots at goal, only three of which were on target.

"To not score today is not an issue about a coach for strikers. Probably it's an idea we can discuss, but it's not an issue for today's game," Nabi said through his interpreter and assistant coach Cedric Kaze after the match.

"What was missing was just to put the ball inside the net," the North African coach later added when asked about what went wrong for the club on the night.

The former Young Africans coach bemoaned the fact that Amakhosi haven't always taken the opportunity to make strides up the Premiership table when chances to do so had presented themselves. They remain in eighth place after the stalemate.

Speaking on his own, without interpretation, Nabi said: "It's not dramatic, but it's very bad because it's not the first time we have a chance to go back and we lose the points. If you remember from the start of the season, the mistake continued. Same. You have a chance to go up, you lose the chance. In the moment, you need evaluation. Why? Because you have a problem. Because today, the normal score is 3-0 or 4-0. We don't score, but I take responsibility."
