City To Break The Bank For Serero: Cape Town's Highest-Paid Star

Cape Town City are pulling out all the stops for the dramatic return of Thulani Serero to the Premier Soccer League, insiders have confirmed.

Serero, 34, is set to sign for City following his departure from UAE side Khor Fakkan. As reported by Kickoff, the midfielder is in talks to make his return to the PSL for the first time in 14 years.

Serero, who has enjoyed a successful career in the Netherlands with Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse, as well as in the UAE with Al Jazira and Khor Fakkan, is expected to become the highest-paid player at Cape Town City, according to Siya sources.

With the sale of Keanu Cupido to Mamelodi Sundowns, City have secured the necessary funds to afford the midfielder.

Serero is familiar with Cape Town City's boss John Comitis and interim coach Muhsin Ertugral, both of whom he had worked with at Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) earlier in his career.

His expected move is set to mark another chapter in his illustrious career, with the midfielder returning to South Africa after several glorious years abroad.
