Kaizer Chiefs have made two more signings in the January transfer window, adding both depth and experience to their squad with the arrival of midfielder Thabo Cele and attacker Tashreeq Morris.
In the first of the two signings, Chiefs have secured the services of experienced midfielder Thabo Cele. The 28-year-old South African international has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with Amakhosi, which includes an option for an additional year. Cele brings in a wealth of international experience, having played for several clubs in Europe and Russia. His career began in 2016 when he left South Africa to pursue his footballing dreams abroad. He has since featured for teams such as Real SC, Benfica, and Cova Piedade in Portugal, Radomiak in Poland, and Fakel Voronezh in Russia.
Cele's vast experience also includes representing South Africa at various youth levels, including U20 and U23, as well as earning caps for the senior national team, Bafana Bafana. His technical ability and leadership qualities will add a new dimension to Chiefs' midfield.
Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., expressed his excitement about the signing: "It's been a long time coming for Thabo, and we are both glad that he's finally here. We know his quality, and we are looking forward to his contribution to the squad as we continue to build."
Cele is expected to join his new teammates for training this week as he embarks on his PSL journey with the Glamour Boys.

Meanwhile, in a move to further bolster their attacking options, Chiefs have also confirmed the signing of 31-year-old Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United. Morris has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Amakhosi, which will see him stay at the club until June 2027. The transfer is part of a strategic swap deal, with Chiefs striker Christian Saile moving in the opposite direction to SuperSport United.
Morris, a Cape Town-born striker, also brings experience to the Amakhosi camp. Having played for various top flight South African clubs, including Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United, and most recently SuperSport United, Morris is known for his goalscoring and versatility. This season, he has been in good form, contributing four goals and two assists in 16 matches for SuperSport United. His presence is expected to enhance Chiefs' forward line as they aim to improve on their attacking options.
"We would like to welcome Tashreeq to the Amakhosi family and look forward to his contributions in the upcoming matches," said Motaung Jr. "He is an experienced striker who came highly recommended by coach Nabi and his technical team after their assessment. We wish him all the best in the Gold Black colours while here with us."
Morris has successfully completed his medical assessments and is set to join his new teammates for training next week.
With the additions of Cele and Morris, Kaizer Chiefs are strengthening both their midfield and attack, signalling their intent to push for success in the remainder of the PSL season. The club is now focused on building a team that will challenge for silverware, and both players are expected to play pivotal roles as Chiefs continue their journey.
