How Ndah Was Helped By His Father During Injury

Olisa Ndah of Orlando Pirates during the Betway Premiership 2024/25 match between Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto on 24 September 2024

Olisa Ndah's father has spoken about the important role he played in the recovery of the Orlando Pirates defender during his long injury layoff.

The Bucs centre-back has been out of action since September after suffering a tibia fracture in the team's 3-0 win over Polokwane City.

The Nigerian had been doing well and improving with his performances in each game, and Bucs coach Jose Riveiro had to quickly accept the reality when the injury happened and decide how the team was going to continue with the season without the towering player.

In their latest update last week, the Buccaneers confirmed that the 27-year-old, has been getting closer to recovery.

Meanwhile, the player's father Ndubuisi Ndah – a former Super Eagles defender – has revealed how he helped the Bucs star and fan favourite to go through the difficult period.

"The injury needed an op (operation), and I was like, 'Hey, it's part of the game.' Football is a contact sport, and you don't predict such things, and when it happens you have to accept it in good faith for you to start the healing process. The process of healing starts immediately after you accept that the injury is here," Ndah senior said, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"It is a journey that I have been part of because I have been in constant contact with him. Almost every day we are on the line, and we speak to each other, and I encourage him. Through God, I think he is getting well gradually and in the process of his healing, I believe he is on the right channel. I believe that in no time the Orlando Pirates fans will see him again before the season ends," he said.

Ndah won't be ready in time for Bucs' next fixture, which is away from home in KwaZulu-Natal against Richards Bay on Sunday, 26 January at 15:00.

With Pirates' midweek PSL game against Royal AM getting postponed, Riveiro's men will be determined to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the table.

However, this time they will turn their attention to defending their Nedbank Cup title against Richards Bay in the Round of 32.
