The story

Amakhosi have been drawn to face Gauteng's ABC Motsepe League side, Free Agents FC, in the last 32 of the 2025 Nedbank Cup, following the fixture announcement on Thursday evening.

Chiefs will host their third-tier opponents during the weekend of 25-27 January in what promises to be an intriguing match, pitting one of Africa's football giants against the lower-league minnows from Eesterus in Pretoria.

Recent seasons have seen Chiefs struggle to advance past the last 32, which serves as the opening round for Betway Premiership teams, with three defeats in the last four campaigns.

With Amakhosi being the most successful club in the competition's history with 13 titles, the pressure will be on Nasreddine Nabi and his team to improve on last season's performance and secure silverware for the first time in a decade.

In reacting to the Nedbank Cup last 32 draw, the online Khosi Nation and other local fans couldn't help but point out the irony of Chiefs facing, a club named 'Free Agents FC', which has been used as a slander nickname for the Soweto Giants on Twitter/X.

In recent years, the Glamour Boys have explored the free agents market to recruit players, prompting supporters to criticise the club for not taking as many financial risks in the transfer market to compete with rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Here's how the fans reacted to Chiefs drawing Free Agents FC:
