The story

In a period spanning less than two years, Relebohile Mofokeng has certified his spot in both Pirates and Bafana Bafana set-ups with the youngster highly regarded as superstar in the making.

Mofokeng, the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Year last season, has showcased his mesmerizing talent with several moments of brilliance, including his unforgettable winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final in June, which secured a victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Already dubbed "iPresident Yama2k", the 20-year-old's meteoric rise has seen him amass nearly 60 appearances for the Sea Robbers since his debut in January 2023, contributing with 10 goals and 14 assists in the process.

With all the pressure that comes with being a prodigal talent and the never-ending rumours regarding his bright future, Mofokeng has seemingly taken measures to seek religious guidance to ease the stress.

The baller, alongside his supportive parents, paid a visit to celebrity pastor, Bishop Moratehi Sekete. The popular preacher is well known for his televised sermons on Dumisa TV (24hr African Christianity channel on DStv Ch.340), prayed passionately for Mofokeng's protection.

Bishop Sekete, who's also an avid Pirates supporter, affirmed the Vaal-born attacker by regarding him as a generational talent and predicted that he'll go further than 90's Mzansi football legends, Doctor Khumalo and the late John "Shoes" Moshoeu.

"Father God, it takes years to see such a talent. It took years to see Lionel Messi, it took years to see [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Father God, we are seeing this young man rising in our country. We pray that you sustain him," said the Pastor, in praying for Mofokeng.

"Lord God, he will reach heights his predecessors will never reach. Where Doctor Khumalo and Shoes Moshoeu went, he'll go further. This is not just a talent, it's a different skill altogether. We thank you, that it's a divine skill and we pray for his protection and for you to sustain him," added Bishop Sekete.
