Despite suffering their first Betway Premiership loss of the season, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi was full of praise for one of the club's teenage sensations whose star continues to rise.

Whilst the use of teenagers all across the PSL is not an uncommon sight, the fact that one has managed to not only break into - but to establish himself in the Sundowns starting XI is very impressive.

More impressive is the fact that established stars like Divine Lunga, Aubrey Modiba and Terrence Mashego find themselves below the 19-year-old in the pecking order.

Mngqithi says that Asekho Tiwani's rise from the DDC [DStv Diski Challenge] to playing for the champions has caught everyone by surprise, but has revealed the element that keeps Tiwani apart.

"That's very impressive, I don't want to lie to you. He's one player that has surprised us all when you consider that just last season he was a DDC player for Sekhukhune and suddenly he's amongst the serious contenders for a first spot in the Sundowns camp," he told journalists after the match.

"He plays very well and the good thing about him, which is very unusual for a youngster, is how consistent he is and youngsters are usually not very consistent and one just hopes and prays that he does not get injured," he added.
