The story

On 26 October, the news of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa's passing sent shock waves around the country, a dark moment in South African football history.

This past weekend marked the 10th anniversary of Senzo Meyiwa's shooting, who was visiting his girlfriend and the mother of his child, singer Kelly Khumalo, at the time of his death in 2014.

Despite it being a decade since Meyiwa's passing, his murder is still an unsolved matter with the trial marred by endless delays, denying his grieving family the closure and justice they seek and deserve.

The Durban-born shot stopper last represented the Buccaneers in a 4-1 league win over Ajax Cape Town at the Orlando Stadium, a match that took place just a day before he was gunned down.

Meyiwa's final season was one of his best as he played every minute of the 2014/15 season leading to his death. He also donned the captain's armband in his last four appearances for Bafana Bafana, managing four consecutive clean sheets in the process.

Pirates' tribute to Meyiwa sees them post one of his final interviews, with the club captioning the post, "Ten years on, Gone but never forgotten."
