Arsenal 'Make Call' On Shock R692m Bid For Star

Arsenal have reportedly made a decision after receiving a surprise €35 million (R692 million) bid for one of their key players after the Premier League transfer deadline passed.

The Gunners parted ways with 11 players in the recent transfer window, including the permanent departures of Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith-Rowe, and Eddie Nketiah.

The transfer windows in Europe's top five leagues came to a close last week Friday, seemingly putting an end to any potential outgoings at the Emirates.

However, it is reported that a Saudi Pro League club has submitted a bid to lure a certain Arsenal star way from the club, with the transfer window in that country only closing on 2 September (today) .

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Ittihad made a proposal to sign Belgium star Leandro Trossard in a deal worth €35 million.

It is understood the Saudi club is keen on signing a new winger, but The Athletic reports that the offer has already been turned down by Mikel Arteta's side, with the player considered a key part of the Spaniard's squad.

The publication further suggests that the initial offer was a €5 million (R98.9 million) loan fee, plus an obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €20-€25 million (R395-R494 million).

The 29-year-old has already made three appearances in the Premier League this season, contributing with one goal so far.

The left-winger became the subject of growing speculation when he netted against Aston Villa in matchday 2.

After scoring, Trossard had a muted celebration, which sparked rumours that he is unhappy with his super-sub role at Arsenal.

Arteta hailed the player for his attitude after that match, while confirming that the attacker was "upset".

"First of all, when you don't get picked, they are certain ways to react. He is upset but he is upset to show on the pitch how good he is, not upset and then come in and complain (he) wasn't playing, that is a huge quality," the Spanish coach said, according to The Independent.

"The boys who unfortunately didn't have the minutes are supporting the other ones, and that's exactly what we need."

It is understood that Al Ittihad have since turned their focus to FC Porto winger Galeno, but it remains to be seen if they can secure his signature.
