Pitso Issues Stern Wydad Warning To Mokwena

Pitso Issues Stern Wydad Warning To Mokwena

Pitso Mosimane has issued a stern warning to his protégé Rulani Mokwena about his new job as the Wydad Athletic head coach.

Wednesday was all about Mosimane as he was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Johannesburg and the football fraternity converged to celebrate 'Jingles'.

But the coach would take some time out to comment on his former assistant coach Mokwena, for whom he had some words of wisdom, particularly when it comes to navigating the media terrain.

Mokwena, who is fueled by passion and determination is known for his random outbursts, something Mosimane has warned against.

"I haven't spoken to him. I don't need to speak to him now, and I'll speak to him later. Let him settle, he's just started, you know? And if he needs anything we are friends, he can call," Mosimane told journalists.

"You know how I felt when he left. I said my part. I didn't feel good that he had to leave Sundowns, but he leaves for Wydad, okay, there you are. That's the next biggest club on the continent. Those clubs are top four clubs in the continent. You can't ignore them.

"He will still come here and meet Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
"He will settle. He needs to be a little bit smart because the culture is not the same as in South Africa, but he will learn fast. There you have to be a little bit calm. You know, it's different. It's not like here because once you don't do well, it becomes a problem," he added.
