On 3 July, an update on the AFL was provided via the competition's official X account, stating that the second edition was in the process of being organised.

It seems that at least four of the clubs from the tournament's previous iteration will be participants in the next one, according to Kooora.

Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Egyptian juggernauts Al Ahly, Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis and Rulani Mokwena-led Wydad Athletic Club all appear to be poised to take part in the 2024/25 version of the knockout competition.

In the case of the Moroccan outfit, however, the abovementioned publication states that before their participation can be finalised by the tournament's organisers, they need to have the transfer ban that has been imposed on them lifted.

It is understood that the 2024/25 AFL tournament will be held between January and February next year, and Wydad president elect Hicham Ait Menna is believed to have made it his priority to pay the players they owe as soon as possible in order to attain the necessary approval for their participation in the next AFL.
