With the 2024 UEFA European Championships set to begin in 10 days time, we wanted to take a look at the 10 of the most prolific goalscorers in the tournament's history.

Europe's biggest international tournament is set to kick off on 14 June, and given how the previous iteration went, there will be major expectations for this edition to be just as entertaining. There will also be massive expectations placed on Portugal as this version of A Selecao is being dubbed their 'golden generation'.
Leading Roberto Martinez's charges will be Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite being 39-years-old, the Funchal native is still going strong and will be looking to add to his record of being the most prolific player in EUROs history. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man is currently on 14 goals at the continental showpiece, even managing to grab the tournament's golden boot at the last edition.
He scored five goals in the 2021 edition of the EUROs and for the plethora of records the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has at Europe's biggest football spectacle, the one record he does not own is most goals scored during a single tournament. That honour belongs to France's Michel Platini.

The attacking midfielder was the star of the 1984 EUROs in France as he found the back of the net nine times, scoring in every game, on Les Bleus' route to winning their first major honour. The achievement is made even more impressive considering the competition back then did not have a Round of 16 or quarter-final stage. The back-to-back hat-tricks against Belgium and Yugoslavia were the highlights of his impressive goal haul.
It was his only appearance at a European Championship, though there is a compatriot that could overtake him in the goalscoring charts as he is currently preparing for his third EUROs appearance and his name is Antoine Griezmann. After Platini's single tournament record for most goals scored, right behind him is the Atletico Madrid striker with his tally from the 2016 edition.
Like the aforementioned former Juventus legend, Griezmann scored his six goals in that version of the contest in his homeland. It is where the majority of his total seven goal EUROs haul came from, but unfortunately for him, unlike Platini, he was unable to lift the coveted trophy as France were beaten 1-0 by Portugal in the final at the Stade de France.

Germany will provide another stage for the ex-FC Barcelona star to add to his historical legacy with the national team, but for now he rounds off the podium places for attackers with the most goals in EUROs history.
