Eto'o's Technical Staff Suspended In Latest Ruling

Eto'o's Technical Staff Suspended In Latest Ruling

A court ruling in Cameroon has suspended the latest technical staff appointments made by the Cameroonian Football Federation.

The new head coach of the Cameroon national team and the technical staff that was appointed by Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto'o have been suspended by the nation's sports tribunal.

Following Rigobert Song's dismissal as the Indomitable Lions head coach after the latest Africa Cup of Nations, the Cameroonian government caused controversy by taking on the responsibility of hiring his successor.

The nation's sports ministry decided that Marc Brys would become the new man to lead the five-time African champions as manager.

This decision was taken without consulting Eto'o and FECAFOOT, something the west African nation's football governing body was not happy with.

The legendary striker and leader was then asked to propose an alternative national coach, but he instead opted to keep the Belgian tactician in the role, and decided to hire different assistants, technical, medical and administrative staff.

According to Reuters, an amateur club took issue with Eto'o's actions and lodged a complaint with the Arbitration and Conciliation Chamber of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee, and on Tuesday, they made a ruling, suspending the FECAFOOT appointments.

In an official statement released by Eto'o-led institution, they said it "reserves the right to refer these decisions to FIFA, as they hinder the preparation process for the forthcoming sport events. The Emergency Committee of FECAFOOT will meet immediately to take appropriate measures."

The situation is not ideal for Eto'o's administration and could possibly lead to the national team being suspended, with FIFA have strict rules about government interference regarding footballing matters.
