CAF Confederation Cup Final

Result: Zamalek 1-0 RSB Berkane

Date: 19 May 2024

Venue: Cairo International Stadium

Berkane came into the game with the advantage of a 2-1 win in the first-leg thanks to goals by Issoufou Dayo and Adil Tahif while Zamalek were still in the tie after snatching an away goal through Seifeddine Jaziri.

The Egyptian giants were all over the Orange Boys in the early stages, who were kept in the game by goalkeeper Hamza Hamiani.

However, Zamalek's pressure paid off on 23 minutes after Ahmed Hamdi fired home a strike in the box after he was teed up by Zizo from a corner and also made it 2-2 on aggregate.

Berkane got into the game and were threatening on set-pieces but they were not accurate enough in front of goal and went to the break trailing on the night and also at a disadvantage of an away goal rule.

The White Knights had a bright start from the break as eight minutes in Ibrahima Ndiaye came close to doubling their lead with a strike that missed narrowly wide.

The Moroccan side also had a sense of urgency as after the hour-mark Yassine Lebhiri came close with a shot from the edge of the box.

Berkane were desperate in the closing stages and they made a double change, as Tuisila Kisinda and Youssef Zghoudi replaced both Youssef El Fahli and Youssef El Fahli.

The Orange Boys had the momentum in the dying minutes and Lebhiri came close to equalising on the night in added time with a strike from the edge of the box that missed narrowly wide.

Berkane finished the game with ten men after Hamza El Moussaoui was red-carded in stoppage, as Zamalek held on to a narrow win and were crowned champions on away goals after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
