Benzema's Teammate Whipped By Fan After Cup Final Defeat

One of Al Ittihad's star attackers was whipped by a fan after their Saudi Super Cup final defeat.

One of Karim Benzema's teammates at Al Ittihad was seen being hit with a whip by a supporter following his side's 4-1 defeat to rivals Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final.

It was not a night to remember for Morocco striker Abderrazak Hamdallah on Thursday as his side were thumped in the final of the Saudi Super Cup.

The 33-year-old levelled matters for the Jeddah-based team in the first half, but this was in vain as the Blue Wave would go on to score three unanswered goals to secure their first Super Cup title since the 2021/22 season.

After the match, however, there were some unsavoury scenes as a fan of the Peoples Club was so enraged by the outcome of the game that he reached over the railing and started hitting Hamdallah with a whip as he was walking close by.

The pair could be seen arguing before Hamdallah threw some water at the fan, who then pulled out a whip and began hitting the Safi native.

The 25-time Morocco international had to be restrained as a result, as did some of his Al Ittihad teammates and staff who tried to climb into the stands and get to the fan, but he was led away by security personnel.

Marcelo Gallardo's Ittihad now look destined to finish the season trophyless. They are currently 30 points behind Al Hilal and Jorge Jesus' has already knocked them out of two cup competitions. Ittihad's last chance at silverware is the Kings Cup, but they will have to face the Saudi Pro League champions-elect there too in the semi-finals.
