Belgian coach Luc Eymael has spoken on how he came close to joining Orlando Pirates in relation to recent rumours about Kaizer Chiefs, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.
In 2013, when the Buccaneers were coached by Roger de Sa, Eymael had a meeting with the club's hierarchy, as confirmed by the mentor.

The 64-year-old UEFA Pro Licence holder says he had at least two meetings with Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza at the recommendation of the club's former administrator Floyd Mbele.
While he confirmed in an interview with Soccer Laduma in the paper this week that a certain agent recently told him of interest from Chiefs in his services, the tactician says he found out that such information wasn't accurate after communicating with the club's Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jnr.
"The truth is like when Pirates was interested in me before, I had been in talks with the chairman. But that was long time ago, and I'm using that as an example. When AmaZulu were interested, I was in talks with the chairman, and it was the same with Chippa (United), I was in talks with the chairman. When Free State Stars wanted me, Rantsi (Mokoena) called me, and I was with Polokwane (City) at the time under Mr (Johnny) Mogaladi," said Eymael.

"(Regarding Pirates talks) It was in 2013, and I was in Kenya at the time. I met Mr (Irvin) Khoza two times, and I was waiting, because at that time Mr Roger de Sa was in charge but the results … they were not at the top of the league. But he (De Sa) went to the final of the Champions League and they lost to Al Ahly, if you remember well. It's like that, you get in touch with the team, and they are interested to talk, and everything is fine. It wasn't the first time I was in touch with someone in South Africa. The first time was in 2012 and Floyd Mbele was with Platinum Stars. He called me, and I was in Gabon. He had been following my job and what I did. So, when he left Platinum Stars for Pirates, Floyd introduced me to Mr Khoza," the coach said.
