New Man Utd Co-owner Hints At Possible Greenwood Return

New Man Utd Co-owner Hints At Possible Greenwood Return

While it seemed like a return to Manchester United was impossible, the club's new minority owner has suggested that Mason Greenwood could yet make a shock reappearance at Old Trafford.

Last year, the United academy graduate was acquitted of charges relating to attempted rape, assault, and coercive control.

Despite this, the Red Devils decided it would be best for the forward to restart his career away from Old Trafford, after which he was loaned out to Getafe at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

However, it seems that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United's newest minority stakeholder, will take a fresh stance on Greenwood's future.

"It's a fresh decision," he told the BBC after finalising his acquisition of the club.

"I can talk about the principle. I am not going to talk about Mason. I am familiar with it. The principle is the important one. We will have other issues going forwards.

"You are dealing with young people who have not always been brought up in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and they don't always have the guidance they should have.

"What we need to do when we have issues like that is understand real effects, not the hype, then we need to make a fair decision in the light of the club's values. That's what we need to do and that's how we will deal with it.

"We need to look at facts, judge fairly and take into consideration what the values of the club are. Then we come out of that with a decision. It is not appropriate for me to comment on Mason Greenwood."
