PSL Club Joins Gem Boys In Billiat Race

PSL Club Joins Gem Boys In Billiat Race

Khama Billiat

With Khama Billiat's move to Dynamos under doubt, the Siya crew has been informed where the Zimbabwe legend could play next and which clubs are linked to him.

Soccer Laduma had reported how talks between Billiat's camp and Dynamos were in jeopardy for financial reasons and this has opened the door to other interested parties.

Siya sources have indicated that there should be a fight for the services of the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star.

Sources in Harare have added that Manica Diamonds may have come up with a better offer for Billiat, when compared to Dynamos.

Insiders privy to information at the two clubs and the player have indicated how the Gem Boys stand a better chance of signing Billiat.

"There is a twist to the Dynamos move now. I can tell you that there is a new team interested in Khama (Billiat). It's Manica Diamonds. They are offering him a better deal. Apparently they have offered him US$20 000 (R378 000) as the signing on fee and US$3 000 (R57 000) as the monthly salary," said the Siya source.

"That's much better than what Dynamos were offering him. I think that's why he didn't join them as expected last week Thursday. But even Dynamos are not giving up on him yet. They are looking at the means of raising funds to land his signature but as things stand the challenge from Diamonds is too much right now," the source observed.

A second Siya source stated that Dynamos were also informed of other interest in the player, from a Cape Town based side.

"The move is becoming more and more difficult as well because it seems Khama (Billiat) wants to stay in South Africa and there is an offer I understand from one club in Cape Town. I can't say much about that now because there is nothing much I know about it but that was the other reason for the delay in the Dynamos deal apart from the fact that Manica Dynamos are also interested in him and have offered him a better deal.

"It is ongoing, the negotiations with everyone involved and no one really knows where he will end up right now," the source told Soccer Laduma.

Manica Diamonds had finished second in the Zimbabwe Premier League last season, behind league winners Ngezi Platinum and they hope 33-year-old Billiat would make a significant impact when they play in Africa this season.

Soccer Laduma contacted Manica Diamonds for comment but the club didn't respond by the time this story was published.

Kickoff has linked Billiat to Manica Diamonds and other clubs, such as Ngezi Platinum and Simba Bhora.

The Siya crew had also reported in the past how Cape Town City and Cape Town Spurs were linked to the player, with the former club making their interest in Billiat known in public.
