SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan believes he was misunderstood or quoted out of context regarding how Bafana Bafana will share $7 million dollars (about R131 million) in prize money should they win the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Soccer Laduma and the South African media covered Jordaan's original quotes over the last two days on the Afcon tournament, which for Bafana begins next week and will run for about a month in host country Ivory Coast.

Jordaan now distances himself from meaning that all of the Caf prize money would go to Bafana Bafana or that these exact finances will be divided equally among the team.
"No, I did not say a word. That is what CAF has issued, you go back to the CAF statement, CAF is very clear. That is a decision from CAF and we said this is what CAF is offering and it's in the public," Jordaan told GameON on Radio 2000.
A clip from SAFA media came out on Sunday where Jordaan himself discussed the prize money. He also added that they would get no bonus if South Africa don't win the tournament.
"I'm unfortunately not going to talk to you about the details because you don't ask any other national team to give you details and we've decided we're not going to do it.
"You'll start with all national teams and treat all national teams equally and then we can talk about the details because the problems that we had with the women's team, some of the women stopped playing because of how they were harassed because you were writing in the papers how much money they are going to get," Jordaan said.
"So, we cannot be irresponsible and put money in the papers. You must understand that many of our players still live in the township, are people going to knock in their houses and say 'You have money, we know you have money, we saw in the papers'.
"The only thing to say is, we've concluded the deal, the players are happy. If they want to tell you how much is in their contracts, it's up to them but from a SAFA point of view, we are definitely not going to talk about money," he continued.
Bafana get their Afcon competition off the mark next Tuesday when they take on West African side Mali.
