Brazil In Trouble With FIFA?

It has been reported that FIFA, world football's governing body, has issued a message to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in which they have threatened a significant ban of its national teams and clubs from international tournaments.

Following a court ruling in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month, 69-year-old CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues and those he appointed were removed from their positions, citing irregularities over his election last year.

It was then ordered that the head of Brazil's main sports court, Jose Perdiz, organise new elections with a month, although FIFA strongly forbids government and third-party interference in its member associations.

In documents reportedly obtained by ESPN, FIFA has warned the CBF that they could be removed from certain competitions should they proceed with the court's instructions.

"FIFA and CONMEBOL would like to strongly emphasise that, until such mission takes place, no decision affecting CBF, including any elections or call for elections, shall be taken," it reads.

"Should this not be respected, FIFA will have no other option but to submit the matter to its relevant decision-making body for consideration and decision, which might also include a suspension.

"For the sake of good order, we would also like to underline that should CBF be eventually suspended by the relevant FIFA body, it would lose all of its membership rights with immediate effect and until the suspension is lifted by FIFA.

"This would also mean that CBF representative and club teams would no longer be entitled to take part in any international competition while it is suspended."
