Transfer Update: Kylian Mbappe

Transfer Update: Kylian Mbappe

Two clubs in the Premier League are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, whose deal in France expires at the end of this season.

The 24-year-old France captain has a contract in Paris that will run out in June 2024 should he decide against a renewal, which it already appears he has.

Earlier this year, Mbappe sent a formal letter to the Ligue 1 champions to inform them of his desire to move on in 2024, a move that left club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi desperate to sell him in the transfer window at the beginning of the season.

The Frenchman, however, remained at PSG and was reintroduced to the team after initially being banished from first-team activities.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have long been linked with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, although they have reportedly distanced themselves from a move for him at this point.

Los Blancos have attempted to sign Mbappe twice in the past before he chose to extend his stay at PSG in 2022 by two years.

Teams in England have also been credited with an interest in the player, who equalised late for his side in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Daily Record claims that Arsenal and Liverpool are studying whether or not they would be able to tempt Mbappe, whose potential arrive at either club would be budget-stretching, to join them.

While no transfer fee would be required, the Frenchman is believed to be the highest-paid footballer in Europe and would likely request a significant signing-on fee.

It remains to be seen if the former Monaco forward is open to listening to offers from the Premier League, particularly considering how strongly linked to the 14-time European champions he has been over the past three years.
