According to Argentine publication Doble Amarilla, the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners are interested in 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning manager Lionel Scaloni.
The former footballer has impressed since being appointed as Argentina's head coach, having claimed both the 2021 Copa America and the World Cup title in Qatar.
While his relationship with his players, especially Lionel Messi, is believed to be strong, the 45-year-old has given mixed signals over his future in recent weeks.
Speaking after the Albiceleste defeated Brazil at the Maracana Stadium earlier this month, Scaloni admitted he needs time to consider if he is fit enough to continue in his role given the demands he is experiencing.
He seemed to suggest the standards that have been set by Argentina's success will be difficult to match, and that the nation needs a manager totally devoted to their responsibilities.
In Madrid, meanwhile, Ancelotti's current deal at the club is set to expire at the end of the season, with Scaloni's representatives having reportedly been contacted by the Spanish giants.
The Argentine does have vast experience of working in Spain, having played for Deportivo La Coruna, Racing Santander and Mallorca during his years as a professional footballer, although it remains unclear as to whether or not he would be interested in succeeding Ancelotti in 2024.
