Wydad 'Make Decision' On Coach After Shock CAFCL Loss

Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly made a decision on whether or not they will fire their manager after the club's shock loss to Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League.

It was not a happy return to continental football for the Red Castle this past weekend as they suffered their first home defeat in the competition  since being beaten by Kaizer Chiefs in 2021  when they came up against Morena Ramoreboli's men.

This was Wydad's first continental match since being defeated by Mamelodi Sundowns in the inaugural African Football League final, but Adil Ramzi's charges suffered the same fate Orlando Pirates did in the previous stage of the CAFCL as they became the latest side to be thwarted by the minnows.

Questions have subsequently been raised regarding the Moroccan coach's suitability to lead the three-time African champions after the shock result, but according to Frankly News, the Casablanca-based outfit have no intention of sacking the 46-year-old as they are fully behind him.

A source close to the club told the news outlet: "The news published regarding the coach's dismissal is not true. He will continue with us, and everyone supports him because he seeks to develop differences and build a project that will extend for years."

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Ramzi is looking at getting rid as many six players in the upcoming transfer window to reinvigorate his squad, with the same source claiming that he is looking to off-set the departures with new arrivals.

"The coach is waiting for the winter transfer period to strengthen the team's ranks with at least three or four players, and the administration will not delay in meeting his requests and will provide all the players he wants," they added.
