Man City 'Make Decision' On De Bruyne Contract Talks

Manchester City have reportedly come to a decision about Kevin De Bruyne's contract negotiations.

Manchester City have reportedly come to a major decision regarding extension talks for club captain and talisman Kevin De Bruyne as he approaches the final year of his current contract.

The 32-year-old suffered a long-term hamstring injury on the opening day of the Premier League campaign against Burnley.

The playmaker is not expected to return to action until the start of 2024 and, according to the Daily Star, it is because of this that the Citizens have decided to halt all contract negotiations with the superstar.

Since arriving from Wolfsburg in 2015, the Belgian has been integral part of the club's success, helping them capture 15 titles.

With the playmaker having just suffered a serious knock, coupled with his age and the 18 months left on his existing deal, the club is believed to be sceptical about whether or not he can still play at his regular productive level once he returns.

It is likely many of Europe's biggest sides will be monitoring the Drongen native's situation at the Etihad Stadium as a result, but the same report claims that Pep Guardiola wants to keep him and has given the club the green light to offer the goalscoring midfielder a new two-year deal.

After Kyle Walker's recent extension, the Citizens have shown a willingness to retain the services of some of their more experienced players provided they can still contribute in a big way to the club's ambitions.
