On Tuesday evening, the 31-year-old called time on his career with Paris Saint-Germain and signed a lucrative deal with the Saudi Pro League giants.

Neymar, who was already among the highest-paid players in the world before making the switch to the Middle East, has only increased his wages following his move to Riyadh.

According to Le Parisien, Brazil's joint all-time top goalscorer will now earn an annual salary in the region of €100 million (R2 billion) at Al Hilal, making him the third-highest-paid player in world football.

Click through the gallery below to see who the 10 highest-paid players in the world are following Neymar's lucrative move to Al Hilal, according to Le Parisien:

Remarkably, though, the winger is still some way from matching the amounts Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are getting at their respective clubs.

The former Real Madrid duo are believed to both now be raking in €200 million (R4.1 billion) a year, having also ditched European football to ink mega-money contracts with Al Nassr and Al Ittihad, respectively.

Both Ballon d'Or winners have enjoyed good starts to their respective lives in the Gulf, too, with Benzema having scored three goals and assisted two more in his first five games with his new club, while Ronaldo has 20 goals in his first 25 encounters playing for the Knights of Najd.

The only player in the top 10 who still plays their club football in Europe is Kylian Mbappe.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is reported to be earning €70 million (R1.4 billion) a year in the French capital.
