Messi Leads New Club To Cup Final

Inter Miami are now on the verge of winning their first trophy ever after progressing to the Leagues Cup final courtesy of a 4-1 win in which captain Lionel Messi scored once again.

Lionel Messi has now led Inter Miami to their first-ever cup final with his performance in their 4-1 victory early on Wednesday morning.

The 36-year-old was on the scoresheet once again for the Herons as he helped his team score yet another four goals in a match to progress to the Leagues Cup final following their triumph over Philadelphia Union.

The Argentine scored the second of the four goals that went past Union's Andre Blake, finding the back of the net with a sensational long-range strike.

The effort was his ninth in the competition as he looks set to wrap up Golden Boot honours and add yet another individual award to his already stacked trophy cabinet.

While he did manage to get his name on the scoresheet and came close to adding another strike in the second half, this was perhaps the least influential performance the Rosario native has produced since arriving in the United States of America, with some of his teammates stepping up to make big contributions.

Either side of the ex-Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star's strike, Josef Martinez and Messi's long-time teammate Jordi Alba also put the ball past the Philadelphia goalkeeper.

Fans at Subaru Park were treated to goals right until the final minutes of the game as academy graduate David Ruiz capped off the scoring in the 84th minute with a strike of his own.
