Fans Launch Bottles At Zwane After Chiefs' 11th Loss

RUSTENBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 13: Police protect Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane from fans throwing bottles during the DStv Premiership match between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on May 13, 2023 in Rustenburg, South Africa. (Photo by Lefty Shivambu/Gallo Images)

Supporters could not hide their frustration after Kaizer Chiefs' loss to SuperSport United and threw bottles at coach Arthur Zwane, who needed protection from police.

The Amakhosi will not finish in the top three season after going down 1-0 to the Tshwane outfit in their penultimate game of the season.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Chiefs at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium as they failed to register a single effort on target.

Zwane was seen being surrounded by police offers after making his way to the tunnel, with the supporters in attendance visibly upset.

The Chiefs coach seemed to question the players' attitude after their 11th loss of the DStv Premiership season.

"Look, I don't know (why they had a slow start), I've always been saying that our attitude sometimes is something you cannot control, it comes from the players," Zwane told SuperSport after the game.

"First of all we're playing for a third spot, you win this game and then we close the gap, it should come from you.

"You can come up with tactics, you can come up with everything, maybe the game that we played last week took a lot from us. So ja, I think they tried," he said.

Chiefs will finish their campaign against fifth-placed Cape Town City, who they are expected to meet in the MTN8 next season.
