Real Madrid Star Pitso's Al Ahli 'Dream Of' Signing

Real Madrid Star Pitso's Al Ahli 'Dream Of' Signing

Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahli are reportedly interested in making a Real Madrid star their marquee signing for next season.

With Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahli all but securing promotion to the nation's top division, the Saudi club is reportedly interested in signing up one of Real Madrid's stars for next season.

Mosimane's side have practically secured their place in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023/24 campaign following their dramatic 2-1 victory over Hajer Club on Wednesday night.

With the South African tactician all but set to take on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo come next season, the 58-year-old could be welcoming a Ballon d'Or winner to his squad before the commencement of the new campaign, if a new report is to be believed.

According to Footmercato, the Saudi Arabian government is looking to arm the country's four biggest sides with some of the game's biggest players, with Al Ahli said to want Luka Modric.

The Croatian is out of contract at Real Madrid at the end of the season, and the Saudis reportedly want the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner to follow in the footsteps of his former teammate, Ronaldo, in making his way to the Gulf state.

It is claimed the nation's government wants Modric to join Al Ahli, Karim Benzema to sign with Saudi Pro League table-toppers Al Ittihad and Lionel Messi to ink a massive deal with Al Hilal.

Along with the presence of Ronaldo, the Saudi chiefs are hoping to shine a brighter light on their football as they have ambitions of hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and would make all four these Golden Ball winners ambassadors for them.

Landing 2018 FIFA World Cup runner-up Modric's signature may prove a difficult task for Mosimane's side, however, with the same report stating that the five-time UEFA Champions League winner is leaning towards extending his stay with Los Merengues for at least one more campaign.
