Lionel Messi has reportedly been issued an apology from Barcelona.

Lionel Messi was reportedly "very happy" with Barcelona following a phone call conversation in which he was issued an apology.

Saudi Arabia To 'Change Laws' For Messi Salary

Speculation has continued to surround the 35-year-old's future in recent weeks ahead of the expiration of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

With Messi's deal running out in June, reports suggest the Paris-based giants are negotiating an extension but are yet to make ground in discussions.

It previously appeared certain that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner would commit to new terms in France, but there are now doubts about whether that will still be the case.

According to Catalan journalist Joan Fontes, his relationship with his former club has improved in recent times following his departure as a free agent in 2021 after a phone call between him and president Joan Laporta.

The Blaugrana chief was believed to apologise for the nature of his exit two years ago, with it believed that Messi was delighted after the conversation.

This comes amid suggestions that the Argentina captain's potential return to his boyhood side has not been completely ruled out, despite Barcelona's widely reported financial troubles.

Messi's dad, Jorge, recently met with the LaLiga giants to discuss a possible move back to Spain for his son and a tribute the club are looking to put on for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
