After a wonderful 2021/2022 season which was capped off with his first-ever Ballon d'Or crown, Benzema has struggled with injuries this season, leaving Los Blancos a little light up front.
As a result, Mundo Deportivo have reported that the club have drawn a shortlist of potential replacements for the French striker.
Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe reportedly remains Los Blancos' main target after missing out on his services at the end of last season, as he penned a new three-year deal.
Mbappe's future at PSG has come into question once again after the club were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich this week.
The other two players on the list include Tottenham Hotspur's Richarlison and Benfica rising star Goncalo Ramos.
Los Blancos may face competition for Ramos, who is also reportedly a target for Premier League giants Manchester United.
The report added that Madrid are more than happy to keep Benzema for another season, although they have begun the process after finding his long-term successor.
